Weekend

Wanderers

Adam and Jodessa Waldhauser

@thewaldhauserweekendwanderers

Jodessa, Adam, Callie and Katie are true weekend warriors. Buying their Starcraft RV in 2020 at the peak of COVID still allowed their family to explore their sense of adventure. Traveling has always been a source of enjoyment and a way of life before and after having children. Camping has become their hobby; they enjoy exploring and learning about any area they travel to, near or far away. While COVID was the motivating factor for their beginning, once they began, it was clear that their lives had been forever changed, and camping opened new ways to explore.

FUN FACTS ABOUT JODESSA AND ADAM

Q: What is the one RV task or chore you hate doing?

A: For me (Jodessa), the task I dread the most is putting sheets on the girls’ bunk beds! It’s so hard for an adult to climb up and into the bunk and wrestle the sheet into place! For Adam, the task he dreads the most is greasing the axle bearings. It is so messy, but also necessary!

Q: What is your favorite National Park and why?

A: As a family, we have not visited many National Parks. (Just Badlands, Rocky Mountain and Gateway) As a child, I (Jodessa) visited many National Parks with my family. I would say my favorite…I don’t know that I can pick a favorite! My top three are probably Glacier, Tetons, and Yellowstone. The mountains and views in all of those parks are so spectacular, but honestly, it is more about the memories made while visiting those destinations that make them so amazing. As a traveler, I think you either have the love for National Parks, or you don’t. If you walk into a National Park and can’t see the beauty, aren’t swept up by the history and the allure of the area, don’t fall in love immediately, then you probably won’t ever see the charm of the parks. I was brought up traveling and seeing the parks, and I love carrying on the tradition, and passing on the love of the parks to my family. What is even more of a blessing is being able to visit the places I did as a kid not only with my kids, but with my parents along for the ride too.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a weekend warrior?

A: My favorite thing about being a weekend warrior is the ability to escape life on a regular basis and feel like you have stepped into vacation mode. We love exploring new and old destinations with the tourist mode mentality. Traveling near or far, new, or previously visited, we love the anticipation of our weekend tourist adventures!
